RCZ Overheating Slow Warmup
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Peugeot RCZ is experiencing overheating and slow warm-up issues, with the temperature gauge fluctuating despite normal coolant levels. The problem is suspected to be related to the thermostat, specifically a defective map thermostat, which is known to cause such symptoms. The solution involves replacing the entire thermostat housing unit, which resolved the issue when addressed by a professional workshop.

A defective thermostat, huh? Where is that thermostat located, and is it a pain to get to? Also, did you notice any coolant leak when yours went bad, or just the overheating issues?

The map thermostat is integrated into the thermostat housing. You will need to replace the entire unit. I recommend going to a workshop to do so. There was no noticeable coolant leak, just the overheating and slow warm-up, as you described.

Thanks for the heads-up about the thermostat! Took it to the shop, and you were spot-on that was exactly the issue. Cost me about 350€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!

I had similar symptoms with my RCZ. Sounds like a defective map thermostat, to be honest. They're known to cause those exact issues.
