RCZ Power Window Failure
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery in a 2012 Peugeot RCZ diesel, the power windows became unresponsive, and an error related to the window regulator initialization appeared. This issue might be linked to the battery change, as modern car electronics can be sensitive to power interruptions. Basic troubleshooting steps, such as checking fuses and attempting a window reset procedure, were suggested but did not resolve the problem. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis revealed that a window regulator reset was necessary, which resolved the issue.

Thanks for the reply! I did check the fuses, and they all seem to be fine. I've also tried holding the window switch up for a few seconds, like I've seen suggested online, but that didn't do anything. Do you know of any other specific reset procedures for the windows? Or could it be something more complicated, like the window motor itself needing some kind of reset?

Hmm, if the fuses are good and the basic reset isn't working, it might be something beyond my knowledge. It's strange that both windows went out at the same time. I'd be tempted to say it's more than just a coincidence after the battery change. Honestly, at this point, I think your best bet is probably taking it to a workshop and letting them diagnose it. They'll have the proper tools and software to figure out what's going on with the window regulators and the car's computer.

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping it would be something simple, but I guess not. I took it to a local shop, and they confirmed it needed a window regulator reset after the battery change. Cost me 290€, but at least the windows are working again. Appreciate your help!

That’s a weird one. I haven’t heard of a battery change causing that specifically, but modern car electronics can be pretty sensitive. Did you try any basic troubleshooting steps, like checking the fuses related to the power windows? Maybe there's just a blown fuse. And have you tried any kind of window reset procedure? I know some cars have a specific sequence you need to follow to re-initialize the windows after a power interruption.
