RCZ steering angle sensor issue

I'm having an issue with my 2012 Peugeot RCZ gasoline. With only 18506 km, the steering requires increased effort, like the power steering is failing. The steering wheel also vibrates. I suspect a faulty steering angle sensor due to bad coding. Any ideas?

That's interesting. I've had a similar issue in my RCZ. I'm not a mechanic but your symptoms do sound like a steering angle sensor problem. Did you notice any issues with the traction control light coming on?

I haven't seen the traction control light, but given the intermittent steering issue, I might have missed it. Is the traction control light usually linked to a faulty steering angle sensor?

Yes, the traction control system relies on the steering angle sensor. Incorrect readings can activate the traction control light or even engage the system unexpectedly. Given your symptoms and low mileage, it's likely a sensor issue. I'd recommend getting it checked at a reputable workshop.

I took my RCZ to a workshop, and they confirmed a defective steering angle sensor due to faulty coding, just as suspected. The replacement, recalibration, and wheel alignment cost 195€. The issue is resolved, and the steering is back to normal. Thanks again!
