RCZ Tire Pressure Sensor Fault

Help! My 2013 Peugeot RCZ diesel is throwing a fit. The display says tire pressure is too low, there's an error message in the speedometer, and the computer's got an error stored. I checked the tire inflation, and they seem OK. Could it be a faulty sensor?

Sounds familiar! I had similar air pressure warnings on my old Volvo. The tires were fine, but it turned out the TPMS sensor battery had died. Those little batteries only last so long, like the batteries in smoke detectors.

Ah, okay! So, if the sensor battery is dead, is that something I can fix myself, or am I better off taking it to a shop?

Replacing the sensor itself isn't rocket science, but you'll likely need a special tool to break the bead on the tire and access it. Plus, the new sensor needs to be programmed to your car's computer. Unless you're really comfortable with that, I'd suggest a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and handle the TPMS issue.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were spot on – a dead sensor battery. Repair cost me 280€ including fitting. At least the error is gone!
