Renault Espace Jerking Whistling Hissing

I'm having a weird issue with my 2018 Renault Espace (gasoline engine). I'm getting a check engine light, and the car jerks when accelerating. I also hear a whistling and loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Sometimes the engine stalls at idle, and I've noticed higher fuel consumption and reduced engine power. It has 208357 km. I suspect the boost pressure sensor. Any ideas where to start?

A 2018 Renault Espace was experiencing issues such as a check engine light, jerking during acceleration, whistling and hissing sounds, engine stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The suspected cause was a faulty boost pressure sensor connection. After checking the connection and confirming the issue, a professional repair was conducted, resolving the problem and restoring the car's performance.

Sounds like a potential turbo system issue, or a vacuum leak somewhere. That whistling/hissing is a classic symptom. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the boost pressure sensor itself? That's often the culprit, similar to a loose spark plug wire causing misfires.

Thanks for the quick response! I will check the cable and plug. Where exactly is it located on the engine, and is there anything specific I should look for besides loose connections or obvious damage?

It's typically mounted on the intake manifold, close to the turbocharger itself. Look for any signs of corrosion on the connector pins, or frayed wires leading into the plug. Give the wires a gentle wiggle while the engine is running (carefully!) to see if the engine note changes. But honestly, given the symptoms, I'd advise a professional diagnosis. This could be a simple fix, but without proper tools, you're chasing ghosts.

Thanks for your help! I checked the connection, and it seemed okay, so I took it to a local garage. They confirmed it was a faulty connection and replaced it. Cost me 95€. Runs like a dream now!
