Renault Fluence NOx Sensor Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Renault Fluence owner is experiencing a check engine light and error memory indicating a NOx sensor failure, along with an exhaust leak. The problem could be due to a defective cable or plug connection, possibly involving corrosion inside the connector. It is suggested to inspect the sensor's connector and wiring for damage, but due to the complexity, taking the car to a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair is recommended.

Thanks for the tip! I did a quick visual check, but didn't see anything obvious. Where exactly should I be looking, and what kind of damage am I looking for? Is there a way to test the sensor or the wiring harness?

Well, on my Astra, the issue was corrosion inside the connector itself. It wasn't immediately visible. Honestly, without the right tools and knowledge, testing the sensor and wiring can be tricky. Given the exhaust leak too, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly, and the part plus labor cost me about 95€ to fix.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop to have it checked out. Hopefully, it's just a simple fix like yours was. I appreciate the help!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra a while back. It also turned out to be a NOx sensor problem. The symptoms were almost identical: check engine light, error code related to the sensor, and a weird smell, though I didn't notice a leak. Have you tried inspecting the sensor's connector and wiring for any obvious damage?
