Renault Master Charge Air Temperature Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Master diesel exhibited a check engine light, power loss, and a whistling noise, with a diagnostic scan revealing a charge air temperature sensor error. The issue was suspected to be caused by a faulty sensor or its wiring. Inspection of the sensor's connector and wiring for damage or loose connections was advised. Ultimately, a damaged wire to the sensor was identified and replaced by a garage, resolving the problem.

Thanks! I checked the sensor visually, and the connector looked okay, but I didn't dig deep. Where would I find the temperature gauge? Is it the regular coolant temperature gauge, or is there something specific for the charge air?

The relevant gauge would be the coolant temperature gauge. Fluctuations would suggest temperature issues. Since you've visually inspected the sensor and connector, and the problem remains, consult a qualified mechanic for a diagnosis. They'll likely use tools to test the sensor and wiring. Driving with a faulty charge air temperature sensor can cause engine damage.

Thanks! I took it to a local garage, and it was a damaged wire to the charge air temperature sensor. They replaced the wire and connector, cleared the error code, and the van is running again. Total cost was 95€.

The symptoms you describe, along with the charge air temperature sensor code, suggest a problem with the sensor or its wiring. Temperature fluctuations may also contribute. Inspect the sensor's connector and wiring for corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Is the temperature gauge acting erratically?
