Renault Master Fuel Pump Failure

My 2020 Renault Master diesel won't start. It has 104915 km. It stalled sporadically, especially at idle, now it won't start at all. The check engine light is on, and it ran roughly when it did run. Fuel consumption also increased. A diagnostic scan showed a fuel pump error. Could a bad cable or plug be the problem?

I had a similar experience with my Master. Same symptoms: rough running, stalling, then no start. Check if gasoline delivery is working. Did you check the fuel pump relay and fuse? It might be electrical before you blame the pump. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key? That would show if it's getting power.

Thanks, I appreciate it. The fuel pump fuse is fine. I tried listening for the fuel pump priming, but it's hard to hear. Can you tell me more about your experience? Did you also have the same fuel pump error code? Was it a bad fuel pump, or something else?

Yes, the error code pointed to the fuel pump for me, too. I thought it was a wiring issue at first. But after checking, it was an internal fuel pump failure. With your symptoms and the error code, your fuel pump is probably bad. I'd take it to a workshop. They can confirm and replace the pump.

Thanks. I took it to a workshop. You were right; it was the fuel pump. The cable and plug were fine. The total repair cost was 95€.
