Renault Master intake air temperature issue

Hi, I'm having some engine issues with my 2006 Renault Master diesel. It's got about 89k km on the clock. The check engine light is on, and the engine power seems reduced. I scanned it and it shows an error related to the intake air temperature. It's also running a bit rough. Could a faulty intake air temperature sensor be the culprit?

I had similar symptoms with my Master. Check the wiring to the IAT sensor first. Make sure the connector is clean and properly seated. Also, what kind of temperature readings are you getting? Are they plausible?

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the wiring and it seems fine. As for the temperature readings, they seem way off, even when the engine is cold. Could it be that the sensor is just plain defective? I don't want to replace parts unnecessarily.

If the readings are implausible even when cold, and the wiring checks out, it is likely the IAT sensor itself. Given the symptoms, I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. They'll be able to confirm with proper diagnostics. It might be worth it, before blindly throwing money at it.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the IAT sensor. Replaced it and everything is running smoothly again. The sensor cost 35€ and the whole repair 155€ including labour.
