Renault Modus coolant level warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Modus with a gasoline engine is experiencing a persistent check engine light, indicating a low coolant level. Despite checking the coolant reservoir and finding it low, no leaks were detected. A potential cause could be a defective cable or plug connection. After further investigation and advice, it was confirmed that a faulty connection was indeed the issue, which was resolved at a workshop.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't specifically checked the fan. How would I go about checking that? Is there a simple way to tell if it's the culprit, or do I need to get a multimeter involved?

I'm no expert, but in my case, the fan just wasn't spinning when the engine got hot. You should be able to see it working (or not) after driving for a bit. If it's not, it could be a fuse or the fan itself. Honestly, with the check engine light on and the error code, I'd take it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of trouble.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a faulty connection, just like I suspected. The repair cost me 95€ I appreciate your help!

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. The coolant light kept coming on, even after topping it up. Have you checked the cooling fan to see if it's working correctly? If not, the engine could be overheating and causing the coolant to evaporate.
