Renault Scenic Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Renault Scenic is experiencing significant engine power loss, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and occasional stalling, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggest a potential mixture preparation error or issues with components like spark plugs, air-fuel ratio, mass airflow sensor, throttle body, or oxygen sensor. A similar case with a different car pointed to a faulty injector, which was confirmed through diagnostic testing at a workshop, leading to the resolution of the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Regarding the injectors, how did you determine that was the problem? Did you notice any specific indicators besides what I mentioned?

Well, it was a process of elimination, to be honest. We checked all the usual suspects first – spark plugs, air filter, etc. Eventually, a diagnostic test pointed towards the injectors. It's worth getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. In the end it's safer.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. Indeed, it was a defective injector, as you suspected. Repair cost me 515€. Again, I appreciate the help!

Your symptoms do sound familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it was a diesel. Reduced power, engine light, rough running... turned out to be a faulty injector. Have you checked your spark plugs, air-fuel ratio, mass airflow sensor, throttle body or oxygen sensor?
