Renault Scenic Engine Stalling and Fuel Delivery Issue

I'm experiencing issues with my 2023 Renault Scenic gasoline. The engine refuses to start intermittently, sometimes stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. I've also noticed rough engine running and higher fuel consumption. I checked the error memory, and a fault related to gasoline delivery is stored. The car has 202500 km. Could a defective fuel pump cause these symptoms?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Renault Scenic is experiencing engine stalling, rough running, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a gasoline delivery fault. Potential causes include a defective fuel pump or issues with the fuel injector function and supply voltage. A suggestion to inspect the fuel pump connector and wiring revealed a corroded connector, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

I had similar symptoms with my Scenic. Error codes pointed towards fuel starvation. Before replacing the pump itself, have you checked the basics such as fuel injector function and supply voltage to the pump? A faulty cable or connector can mimic a failing pump.

Thank you for your quick reply. No, I haven't checked the cable or connector yet. Is it difficult to access the fuel pump connector on the Scenic?

Accessing the connector can be a bit tricky depending on your mechanical experience. It's located near the fuel tank, and you might need to remove some underbody panels for better access. However, if you are not experienced, I would recommend having a workshop check the connections and wiring before condemning the fuel pump. A diagnostic scan with live data monitoring of the fuel pump can also help pinpoint the issue.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. I followed your suggestion and had a workshop inspect the wiring and connector. It turned out to be a corroded connector, as you suspected. Repairing the connector and cleaning the contacts cost 95€. Now the engine runs perfectly again!
