Renault Scenic fuel consumption and starting issues

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2020 Renault Scenic with a gasoline engine. My fuel consumption has gone way up, and it's getting harder to start. The engine isn't idling properly and struggles to get going. I suspect it might be a defective throttle valve. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Any advice on what to check before taking it to a mechanic?

Hey, I have a Scenic too. I had similar symptoms not too long ago. Increased fuel consumption and rough starts sound very familiar. For me, it turned out to be a problem with the accelerator pedal module, which affected the throttle valve's operation. Have you looked into that as a possible cause?

Thanks! When you say accelerator pedal module, do you mean the actual pedal itself? How did you figure out that was the issue? Did you get any error codes? I'm trying to avoid a costly repair if I can troubleshoot myself, but I don't want to mess anything up.

Yes, the whole unit. I didn't get any specific error codes that pointed directly to it, but the mechanic suspected it because it was sending erratic signals to the engine management system. He checked the throttle valve itself, cleaned it, but the problem persisted. Eventually, they replaced the accelerator pedal module, and that fixed the issue. Cost me around 205€. Honestly, it might be worth getting it checked out by a professional.

Okay, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It sounds like it's probably beyond my abilities to fix myself. I'll take it to a workshop and mention the accelerator pedal module and the throttle valve. Hopefully, it's a similar issue and not something more complicated. I appreciate your help!
