Did replacing the sensor fix everything on your Astra, including the DPF regeneration and the smoke? Did you do it yourself or go to a shop?

Yes, replacing the exhaust back pressure sensor on my Astra fixed everything. The DPF regenerates now, no more smoke, and the warning light is gone. But modern cars can be complex, and you might need special tools, so I'd suggest a workshop. I paid 190€, parts and labor included.

Thanks for the help! I'm going to get the exhaust back pressure sensor replaced by a professional. I got a quote for 245€, including parts and labor. Hopefully, that will get my Renault SM3 running right again. Thanks!

Sounds very familiar! I had the same thing with my 2017 Opel Astra, also gasoline. Warning light, smoke, DPF issues. It was a faulty pressure sensor. The exhaust back pressure sensor measures the pressure in the exhaust system. The ECU uses this to manage combustion and emissions. I'd get the sensor checked.
