Renault Spider Climate Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 1999 Renault Spider is experiencing climate control issues, with a dead control panel and non-functional air conditioning. The fuses were checked and found to be fine, leading to speculation about a possible total panel failure. A suggestion was made to inspect and clean electrical connectors, particularly those near the blower motor resistor, as corrosion could be causing the problem. The issue was resolved by addressing a corroded connector in the wiring harness, resulting in a successful repair at a local shop.

Thanks for the tip! Corroded connectors, huh? I hadn't thought about that. Where exactly should I be looking for these connectors? Are they easily accessible, or am I going to have to dismantle half the dashboard?

On the Astra, the main connector was behind the center console, a real pain to get to. But before you tear everything apart, check the ones under the dash, near the blower motor resistor. Since you've got error codes and low heat, I'd bet it's a wiring or connection issue. Honestly, if you're not comfortable digging around in the wiring, it might be worth taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and you'll avoid making things worse.

I took your advice and brought it to a local shop. It WAS a corroded connector in the wiring harness, just like you suspected! They cleaned it all up and replaced a small section of damaged wire. Total cost was 95€, which is way better than a new climate control unit! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, though not quite the same symptoms. The climate control was acting up, and it turned out to be a corroded connector in the wiring harness going to the HVAC system. Have you checked the electrical connectors going to the climate control panel and blower motor? Maybe try cleaning them with contact cleaner?
