A 1999 Renault Spider was experiencing overheating, a check engine light, and a coolant spill, suspected to be due to excessive pressure. The issue was thought to be a control unit communication error, potentially caused by a faulty cable or plug. Yes, I got an error code about a communication fault in the control unit network. Where was the corroded connector in your Saab's engine control module circuit?

The connector was near the firewall in the engine bay. But a Saab is different from your Renault Spider, so be careful assuming it's the same spot. I'd get a technician to check the control unit's cable and plug connections to be safe. I went to a workshop, and they replaced the wire in an hour.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a technician, and they found a bad cable connection in the engine control unit circuit, just like you said. The repair was only 95€, and now the engine runs great. The problems are gone. Thanks again!

I had similar issues on my 2008 Saab 9-3, diesel engine: overheating, check engine light, and coolant leak. The error code pointed to a data link problem, and it turned out to be a corroded connector in the engine control module circuit. Did you get any error codes?
