Renault Spider Start Stop Fault
Summary of the thread
A 1998 Renault Spider is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, including an error code, engine shutdowns, and a warning light. The problem may be linked to a weak battery, as indicated by slow electric windows, despite normal headlights. It is suggested to check and clean the battery terminals and have the battery tested at a garage to confirm if it needs replacement, potentially resolving the issue without unnecessary part replacements.

Thanks! It happens on any length trip. Headlights seem fine, but the electric windows are a bit slow. A battery issue? I wouldn't have guessed that.

Yep, those are the exact battery symptoms I saw. It could be other electrical problems, but a weak battery is most likely, especially with an older car. Get the battery properly tested at a garage. I think my repair was about 290€. They can check it properly and save you from replacing the wrong parts.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get the battery checked at a workshop. I'll post what happens for future reference.

Interesting. I own a Spider too, and I had similar issues a while back. Does it happen mostly on short trips, or also after longer drives? Have you noticed anything weird with other electrical stuff, like dimming headlights or slow windows? It could be the battery, not the start-stop module. Check the battery terminals are clean and tight before you spend any money. That fixed it for me.
