Renault Talisman Parking Brake Issue After Brake Pad Replacement

I own a 2018 Renault Talisman with a Diesel engine and 212,000 km mileage. Recently, I replaced the rear brake pads using the service menu. Since then, I've been receiving a 'check parking brake' message. The electrical handbrake engages automatically when the car is turned off, but it remains locked when trying to drive away. Additionally, the hill assist function is not working. The battery is fine, and we've attempted to reset the message, but it reappears immediately. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Summary of the thread

After replacing the rear brake pads on a 2018 Renault Talisman, a 'check parking brake' message appeared, and the parking brake remains locked when attempting to drive. The issue may stem from improperly retracted rear brake calipers or the need for recalibration of the electronic parking brake. Suggested solutions include disconnecting the battery to reset the system or consulting a professional mechanic if the problem persists.

Check if the rear brake calipers were properly retracted and reset during the brake pad replacement. Sometimes, the electronic parking brake needs to be recalibrated after such work. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the system, then reconnect it and see if the issue persists. If the problem continues, it might be best to have a professional mechanic inspect the electronic parking brake system. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Check if the electronic parking brake motor connectors are securely attached and free of corrosion or damage. A loose or faulty connection could cause the issue you're experiencing. If everything seems fine, it might be necessary to have the electronic parking brake system scanned for error codes using a diagnostic tool. This can provide more insight into the problem.
