Renault Wind brake lights dead error message

My 2013 Renault Wind with a gasoline engine is acting up. The brake lights are dead, and I'm getting a weird error message on the dash. The error memory also has a fault stored related to the brake light switch. I checked the bulbs, and they're fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty brake switch, could be related. It's a common issue, but do you have cruise control? If so, does that still work? If it's not the switch, might be a wiring fault. If you press the pedal does it still feel normal?

I don't have cruise control on this car. The brake pedal feels fine, no different than before. So you think it's definitely the brake switch and not something more serious with the whole brake system?

Probably just the switch. Think of it like a light switch in your house - sometimes they just go bad from use, especially if you drive in a city where you're using the brakes all the time. But I'd still get it checked out, brakes are pretty important for obvious reasons.

Turns out, I was resting my foot very lightly on the brake pedal. I've stopped doing that, and the error hasn't reappeared. No cost to repair. Thanks for the pointer!
