Renault Wind check engine light hissing sound
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Renault Wind with a gasoline engine exhibited a check engine light and a hissing sound near the throttle body, suspected to be related to the air supply. The issue was identified as a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve. The suggested solution was to inspect and potentially replace any cracked or loose vacuum hoses connected to the air valve and throttle body. After checking the hoses and confirming the problem, the issue was resolved by fixing the defective hose connection, eliminating the check engine light.

Thanks for the quick reply! No stalling, just the check engine light and the hissing sound. When you say "air valve", are you referring to the valve that controls the air supply to the engine during cold starts?

Yes, exactly that valve. If it's not the hoses, the valve itself might be faulty, but start with the hoses. It's a common problem and usually the cheaper fix. If the light persists and the hissing doesn't stop, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop – could prevent worse problems further down the line.

Appreciate the advice! I checked the hoses and couldn't find any cracks, so I took it to a shop. It was a defective hose connection to the air valve, just like I thought. 175€ later and the check engine light is gone! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I had a similar problem with my Wind. Check all the vacuum hoses connected to the air valve and the throttle body. A cracked or loose hose can cause a vacuum leak, which can trigger the check engine light and affect engine performance. Is your engine stalling at all?
