Renault Wind Communication Error
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Renault Wind experienced a control unit communication error, leading to engine overheating, a check engine light, and coolant spillage due to excessive cooling system pressure. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug. After checking connections and consulting a mechanic, the issue was identified as a defective connector, which was resolved at a cost of around 95€.

Thanks, that's helpful. Could you elaborate on 'vaguely similar'? Were you experiencing the overheating and coolant spill as well? And where did you find the faulty connection, if you remember?

I remember now. I did not have the coolant spill, sorry. But the overheating was the same. Given you're seeing overheating and coolant issues along with the communication error, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop. It could be a combination of things, and best to not risk further damage.

I appreciate the advice! After checking some connections myself without success, I took it to a trusted mechanic. It was a defective connector, like I suspected. The final bill came to around 95€, so it could have been worse. Thank you again for your assistance; it pointed me in the right direction!

Sounds frustrating. I have a Wind too, and I recall something similar. Did you check the data link connector? A faulty connection there can cause weird CAN bus issues and mess with the control units. Worth investigating before diving deeper.
