Renault Wind handsfree microphone failure

I had a similar issue with my Wind. Voice recognition was shot, and audio input was garbled. Ambient noise was excessive for callers. Have you checked the physical microphone connection or tested with an external mic?

I haven't tried an external mic. Where is the microphone located? I wanted to inspect it but don't know where to start dismantling the dashboard. Did you fix yours yourself, or did you use a garage?

I messed around trying to find the mic, but my diagnostic skills aren't great. I took it to a workshop. The whole infotainment system needed replacing to fix the speech recognition. It seems like a common fault but not an easy fix.

I suspected it was the infotainment system. I will book it in. A garage quoted 815€ for a new system, so I wanted to be sure. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
