Renault Wind Rain-Light Sensor Fault

I have a fault with my 2011 Renault Wind, gasoline engine, with 154640 km on the clock. The error memory stores a rain-light sensor error. The automatic wiping mode doesn't work in rain, and the automatic headlight control is also non-functional. The speedometer dimming is affected, and the lights switch on automatically. Could this be related to the auto sensor?

Sounds like a faulty rain sensor. Common issue. Any sign of bubbles under the gel pad on the windshield where the sensor sits? That's usually the culprit. Does the car electronics otherwise work as expected?

Yes, I have observed some bubbling under the gel pad. If that is the case, is there a straightforward fix, or does it necessitate a complete replacement?

Bubbles forming under the gel pad is almost certainly your problem. You can try to carefully remove the bubbles, but honestly, the sensor itself is likely damaged now. You will probably need a replacement unit. I'd suggest a workshop visit to get a proper diagnosis and replacement. They'll know exactly what rain detection parts you need and fit it correctly.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the rain-light sensor was faulty due to the bubbling. A replacement unit was installed, costing 62€. The system now functions correctly.
