Ridgeline Overheating Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda Ridgeline is experiencing overheating, a check engine light, and coolant leakage, suspected to be pressure-related. The issue might be due to a control unit communication error, potentially caused by a defective cable or plug connection. A similar case was resolved by repairing a faulty connection in the control unit wiring. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic diagnose and fix the issue to prevent further complications.

Thanks for the reply! I did a quick scan, but didn't focus on CAN bus specifically. Where exactly did you find the connectivity issue on your Ridgeline? Any specific area I should be checking first?

Honestly, I didn't trace it down myself. I took it to a workshop, and they diagnosed it as a faulty connection in the control unit wiring. They repaired the cable and plug for 95€. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a pro if you're not comfortable digging too deep. Better safe than sorry with overheating!

Appreciate the advice! I think I'll take it to a mechanic. Knowing it might be a simple wiring fix is helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience; it's good to have a starting point!

I had something similar happen on my Ridgeline. Overheating and that check engine light are no fun. Did you check for any CAN bus issues or software glitches when you scanned for codes? Sounds like you might have a connectivity issue somewhere in the data link.
