Ridgeline reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Honda Ridgeline is experiencing reduced engine power and a check engine light, possibly due to a defective throttle valve, accelerator pedal module, or electronics. The issue might lead to limp mode and affect fuel efficiency. A similar case was resolved by addressing a faulty throttle sensor, suggesting this as a potential cause. Consulting a mechanic is recommended to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary costs.

Throttle sensor, huh? Okay, that's something I hadn't considered. Where exactly IS that thing located, and is it something I could potentially swap out myself, or am I just asking for a world of pain and a bigger bill later?

While you could potentially replace it yourself, accessing the throttle sensor on the Ridgeline can be tricky depending on the specific configuration. Given the symptoms and your concerns about potential damage, I would strongly recommend consulting a trusted mechanic. A faulty diagnosis could lead to unnecessary replacements and increased costs. In my case, the issue was confirmed by the workshop. It cost me around 265€ to fix.

Thanks a bunch! Sounds like a trip to the mechanic is unavoidable. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and confirming my fears, haha! At least I know what to expect now. Knowing it was the throttle sensor and roughly what it cost you is a huge help. Wish me luck!

I also drive a Honda Ridgeline, and your symptoms sound very familiar. I experienced similar issues with reduced engine power and the check engine light. In my case, it turned out to be a problem with the throttle sensor. Have you checked the sensor's connection or considered having it tested?
