Rifter ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
The 2021 Peugeot Rifter is experiencing ABS issues, with the ABS lamp on and a system failure indicated by a scan showing an error related to the lateral acceleration sensor. A faulty steering angle sensor could potentially impact traction control, but the lateral acceleration sensor is the primary suspect. It is suggested to consult a Peugeot specialist to confirm the diagnosis, as the control unit might need replacement, which could be costly.

The wheel alignment was checked about 6 months ago. I'll double-check the report. The scan was at an independent garage, but I'm unsure of the tool used. Is it likely the control unit itself is the problem?

Given the age and mileage, and based on the symptoms and error code, it does point towards a defective control unit. I'd advise taking it to a Peugeot specialist to confirm, but be prepared for a replacement. This could be costly, around 1000€ including labor.

The symptoms strongly suggest a fault within the lateral acceleration sensor circuit. A steering angle sensor can sometimes trigger related warnings, but the specific lateral acceleration sensor error makes that the prime suspect. Have you had the wheel alignment checked recently? What diagnostic tool was used to read the error code?
