Rifter AdBlue Empty Engine Start Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Peugeot Rifter diesel with 80,000 km is experiencing engine start failure due to an empty AdBlue tank error, despite being refilled. The issue is suspected to be related to the AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit. A faulty dosing unit or blocked injector could be the cause, leading to insufficient AdBlue injection and triggering error messages. The recommended solution is to conduct a full diagnostic check at a workshop to identify and address the exact problem.

Thanks. Did you have a complete engine start failure? Did a diagnostic check specifically point to the dosing unit, or were there other things involved? Do you remember if you had similar mileage?

Yes, I had a complete engine start failure. The diagnostic pointed right at insufficient AdBlue being injected because of a faulty dosing unit. For me, it was a partially blocked injector and a failing pump inside the AdBlue tank. Given what you're seeing, I'd get a full diagnostic check at a good workshop to find the exact cause. At 80000 km, you're at the point where failures can happen.

Thanks for confirming and explaining it. I'll get it diagnosed and repaired at a workshop. I'm expecting it to cost around 250€. Thanks again.

I had a similar thing with my Rifter, though mine's older. The error message and engine starting problems definitely point to the AdBlue system. The dosing unit is a likely cause. It injects AdBlue into the exhaust to cut NOx emissions, so if the output's bad, it'll trigger those errors. Check the service light, too. You have to keep up with the system, or it can mess with the injection and emission standards.
