Rifter battery discharge issue

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the voltage regulator specifically. Where exactly is it located on the Rifter, and is it something easily testable with a multimeter? I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and take it to a workshop.

On my Audi, the voltage regulator was integrated into the alternator. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with electrical systems, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. A faulty sensor can cause all sorts of headaches, and you don't want to risk frying something else. Better safe than sorry!

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I took your word for it and brought it to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed the battery sensor. Repair cost me 315€ but at least the issue is resolved. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Audi A4. Same symptoms – error messages, flickering lights, struggling to start. I'd put money on a faulty sensor messing with the battery charging. Have you checked the voltage regulator?
