Rifter Cylinder Pressure Fluctuation

I also drive a Rifter, and your symptoms sound familiar to an issue I had. Cylinder pressure fluctuation is tricky. Did you notice any unusual engine knocking or misfires before the check engine light? Check the fuel injectors, piston rings or even the head gasket. Could the timing belt be the culprit?

Checking the timing belt properly usually requires partial disassembly, but visually inspect it for wear if you can access it.
