Rifter Overheating Check Engine Light

Hello, I have a 2023 Peugeot Rifter with a diesel engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and I've noticed the engine is overheating. I suspect it might be related to the active air flap, perhaps an electromechanism defect? The car has 88194 km. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Greetings. Overheating and a check engine light could indeed point to a malfunctioning active air flap. The system's purpose is thermal management; when the flaps fail, they can remain closed, restricting airflow and leading to overheating. Has there been any noticeable change in fuel consumption or engine performance beyond the overheating?

Thank you for your reply. Besides the overheating and the engine light, I haven't observed any significant changes in fuel consumption or engine performance. Given that, how likely is it that the air flap is the sole cause, or could there be other contributing factors I should consider?

While the symptoms strongly suggest an active air flap issue, particularly with a potential electromechanism defect, a complete diagnosis requires a professional inspection. Other cooling system components could contribute, but the flap system is a common failure point. Proceeding to a qualified workshop for diagnostics is advisable.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I took the Rifter to a workshop, and it was indeed the active air flap. The electromechanism was defective, and the repair cost came to 590€. Thanks again for your insights.
