Rifter steering fault

Experiencing a disconcerting issue with my 2018 Peugeot Rifter diesel. It's only done 13880 km. I suspect the steering angle sensor is defective. I've noticed a significant increase in steering effort, almost as if the power steering is intermittently failing. The steering wheel vibrates and shakes, especially at lower speeds. I've read some forum posts suggesting the coding of the steering angle sensor could be faulty. Has anyone else encountered similar symptoms?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my old Renault Megane. Steering got heavy, and I could feel a weird vibration. Not sure about the sensor coding thing, though.

Interesting. Was the issue with your Megane also related to a steering angle sensor, or something else entirely? And did the vibration feel like it was coming from the steering column itself?

Yeah, turned out to be the steering sensor on the Megane. Caused all sorts of weirdness. If you're getting those vibrations, I'd get it checked out at a workshop ASAP.

Thank you for the insight! I took it to my local shop, and you were spot on. The coding of the steering angle sensor was indeed faulty, and after recalibrating it, and an alignment, the issues are now resolved. The total repair cost was 195€. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!
