RNessa torque converter issue

I'm experiencing issues with my 2001 Nissan RNessa (gasoline engine). The check engine light and transmission indicator are on. The gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly, with grinding noises. Error memory points to a defective automatic transmission torque converter. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Vectra. The error code pointed to the torque converter too. Does the engine surge a bit at certain speeds, especially when it's supposed to lock up? That was a big clue for me.

Yes, the engine does surge a little sometimes, particularly at highway speeds. It's subtle, but noticeable. Was the torque converter the actual problem in your case? What did you end up doing about it?

Yep, torque converter was the culprit. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a qualified workshop ASAP. Those symptoms sound pretty conclusive. Continuing to drive it like that could cause more damage.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll definitely take it to a workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair. I hope it won't be too expensive. I will post what happens.
