RNessa weak battery

My 2001 Nissan RNessa (electric) is showing some odd behavior at 29841 km. The battery seems heavily discharged. I'm getting an error message in the speedometer, weak/flickering lights, and an error is stored in the memory. The engine is also showing a weak start. I suspect the battery sensor is defective. Anyone else seen this?

Hey, I had similar issues with my RNessa. Same symptoms – the flickering lights were the first thing I noticed. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion? Also, how old is the vehicle battery itself? A discharged battery can cause all sorts of weirdness with these electric systems. Could be as simple as needing a good battery charging.

Thanks for the input. Terminals look clean, and I've tried battery charging, but no luck. How was the issue solved on your car?

Right, cleaning the terminals and charging would have been the easy fix. In my case, the error memory pointed directly to a faulty battery sensor. Given your symptoms and troubleshooting, it's likely the same. A defective sensor messes with the charging and discharge cycles, causing the battery to drain even when it shouldn't. I'd recommend getting it checked out at a workshop. I ended up paying around 300€ for the repair.

Appreciate the confirmation. Taking it to the shop. Hopefully, it's just the sensor. Thanks for the help!
