Rogue Hybrid fuel pump failing

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. It has 189602 km. It seems the fuel pump is failing. The engine sometimes refuses to start, stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. I've also noticed rough engine running, increased fuel consumption, and error codes. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered something similar?

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is experiencing issues that suggest a failing fuel pump, including engine starting problems, stalling, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and error codes. A suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. A suggestion was made to check the fuel pump relay and wiring harness for loose connections or corrosion, particularly near the fuel tank. Ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed a defective connection, and the repair resolved the issues.

I have a Nissan Rogue, though it's not a hybrid. I had similar symptoms – engine stalling, check engine light, and all that. Have you checked the fuel pump relay and the wiring harness connecting to the fuel pump? A loose connection can cause those intermittent issues. It might be worth investigating before condemning the whole fuel pump.

Thanks for your input! You mentioned a loose connection on the wiring harness. Could you provide more detail on where I should be looking? Any specific connectors or areas prone to corrosion or damage? I'm not very experienced in auto repair, but I am willing to learn.

On my Rogue, the fuel pump wiring harness is located near the fuel tank, underneath the vehicle. It's exposed to the elements, so corrosion is a common issue. Definitely check the connector itself for any signs of damage or loose pins. However, given that you're seeing multiple symptoms and error codes, it might be best to have a workshop take a look. It can save you some headache.

Understood. I will inspect the wiring harness as best I can, but given my limited experience, I think you're right – a workshop visit is in order. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and advice! The cable or plug connection of the component was defective. The repair cost was only 95€. It's running smoothly again!
