Rogue Low Brake Fluid Strange Pedal Feel

I've got a 2008 Nissan Rogue with a gasoline engine, and I've noticed the brake fluid level is low. I'm getting some strange feedback from the brake pedal. Could worn brakes cause this?

I had a similar issue with my Rogue. It's like trying to stop a runaway train with a bicycle pump, isn't it? The brake fluid disappearing act combined with weird pedal feel screams 'check your brake system ASAP!' When was the last time you had your brakes checked? It could be something as simple as worn pads or rotors, but it's best to have it looked at.

Thanks for the reply. How urgent would you say this is? And did yours end up needing a new master cylinder or anything like that?

Think of your brake system like a chain; one weak link compromises the whole thing. Given the low fluid and odd pedal feel, I'd say it's pretty urgent. Continuing to drive it could lead to complete brake failure. Fortunately, I didn't need a new master cylinder; it was just worn brakes all around. However, it's best to get it professionally inspected to rule out any master cylinder issues. A faulty one could create a very dangerous situation. If you are not confident doing this, bring it to a reliable workshop.

Thanks again for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right - it was worn brakes. Cost me 480€ to get them replaced. Appreciate the help!
