Rogue temperature and check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Nissan Rogue Hybrid was experiencing incorrect temperature readings, a check engine light, and slow engine warm-up. The suspected cause was a cooling issue, possibly due to restricted airflow, but the grille appeared clear. It was suggested that the problem might be related to the grille shutters, which control airflow to the radiator. Upon inspection, a defective fuse affecting the grille shutters was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Grille shutters? I'm not sure I'm familiar with those. What exactly do grille shutters do, and where would I find them on the Rogue?

They're basically flaps behind the grille that open and close to control airflow to the radiator. They improve aerodynamics and help the engine warm up faster. My Astra had issues with them sticking. I would suggest a mechanic check this. It could be a simple fix, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out a fuse related to the grille shutters was indeed defective, causing them to stay closed. Cost me 52€ to replace the fuse, and everything is back to normal now.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my 2017 Opel Astra. Engine temp was all over the place. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) uses a temperature sensor to monitor the engine's temperature, and if that's off, it can mess with the fuel mixture and trigger the check engine light. Did you check the grille shutters?
