Rogue torque converter failure
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is experiencing issues with the check engine light and transmission indicator on, gearbox slipping, and occasional grinding noise. The problem is linked to a code indicating a torque converter lock-up clutch issue, suggesting a potential torque converter failure. The symptoms, including engine surging and erratic RPMs, align with a failing torque converter. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a reputable transmission shop to prevent further damage.

Engine surge? Now that you mention it, I have noticed the RPMs jump a bit erratically sometimes right before it slips. Was that part of your issue too? What was the fix?

Yep, engine surge was definitely part of it. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, it's highly likely the torque converter. Get it checked by a reputable transmission shop. Could save you from further damage.

Thanks for the heads-up! Took it to a trusted mechanic, and you nailed it – torque converter failure. Repair cost me 2120€, but at least it's running smoothly again. Appreciate the insight!

Sounds rough. I had similar symptoms with my Rogue. Check engine light, weird shifting... Does the engine surge at all when it happens?
