RS4 Anti-Theft System Failure: Symptoms & Solutions

I encountered a very similar issue with my 2018 RS5, which shares many security components with your model. I have some experience working with car electronics, though mainly basic maintenance. The car alarm and immobilizer problems can be tricky to diagnose, but in my case it turned out to be a relatively simple fix. The security alarm was incorrectly coded after a routine software update. The alarm control module needed reprogramming to properly communicate with the central locking system. My workshop found that the alarm system had defaulted to a basic setting, which disabled the optical feedback when locking the car. The repair involved recoding the alarm control unit to restore the proper configuration. Total cost was 45 Euro for the diagnostic and programming work. To better assist with your specific case, could you share: Are your power door locks still working normally? Does the key fob still trigger the indicator lights when locking/unlocking? Have you had any recent software updates or battery replacements? Are there any other electrical issues happening simultaneously? These details would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if it might be something different with the car alarm components.

Just had my 11188 KM service done last month, and I wanted to update on this issue. After checking with a diagnostic tool, turned out the alarm control module was getting incorrect signals from a faulty door sensor. The security alarm would out of nowhere trigger even when properly locked. The anti-theft system showed multiple error codes related to the driver side connection. The repair cost came to 320 Euro including parts and labor. They replaced the door sensor and recalibrated the entire alarm system. Now all security features are working perfectly again. For others facing similar issues, worth checking if the door sensors are the culprit before assuming its a more complex problem with the immobilizer or main alarm unit.

Good to hear you got this resolved. The door sensor issue actually matches what several other RS4 owners reported in similar cases. While my fix was just a coding issue, the false alarm triggers you experienced from faulty sensors are a known weak point in these models. The diagnostic approach your shop took was spot on. Door sensor failures often mask themselves as general anti-theft system malfunctions, leading many to assume worst-case scenarios with the main alarm control module. The 320 Euro repair cost seems reasonable given they had to replace hardware and recalibrate the security alarm system. The car alarm trigger points are quite sensitive by design, so when sensors start failing, they tend to cause these kinds of cascade failures in the security system. For anyone else reading who encounters similar alarm sensor issues, its worth noting that false alarms combined with error codes often point to sensor problems rather than a complete anti-theft system failure. Have you noticed any other electrical quirks since the repair? The door sensors sometimes can indicate early signs of wiring harness wear, though this is less common on newer models like ours.

Thanks for the update on your door sensor repair. That false alarm issue was definitely nerve-wracking, but 320 Euro seems fair for resolving the anti-theft system problems. The shop's diagnostic process helped avoid replacing more expensive alarm control components unnecessarily. Your experience matches what I found online, faulty door sensors are a common trigger for security alarm malfunctions in these models. Really helpful to know the immobilizer and main alarm module were fine, just the sensor causing those error codes. The repair shop did a thorough job replacing the sensor and recalibrating the alarm system. Having this fixed during regular service worked out well. No more unusual false alarms is a huge relief. Key takeaway for others, when the alarm sensor starts acting up, get it checked promptly. What seems like a major anti-theft system failure could just be a simple sensor replacement. Glad I asked here before assuming the worst about the alarm control module.
