RS5 Washer System Failure: Beyond Low Fluid Warning

Having trouble with my 2019 Audi RS5. The windshield washer system stopped working completely and throws an error code. Already checked the wiper fluid level which appears full, but still getting a washer fluid low warning on the dashboard light. The reservoir seems intact with no visible leaks. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their RS5? Particularly interested in what the actual problem turned out to be and what repairs were needed to fix it. Did you need any specific parts replaced or was it just a sensor issue? Thanks for any insights on troubleshooting this wiper system problem.

Had a similar issue with my 2017 Audi S5. As someone with moderate experience working on cars, I first thought it was just a faulty sensor reading. The warning light kept showing low washer fluid despite a full reservoir. After checking the spray jets and windshield washer system thoroughly, I discovered the level sensor was getting false readings due to debris in the reservoir. The fix was straightforward. Had my regular workshop clean out the reservoir and replace the washer fluid level sensor. Total cost was 25 Euro and resolved the warning light issue completely. A few things to check on your RS5: Is the washer motor making any noise when activated? Are the spray jets blocked or clogged? Can you see any mineral deposits around the reservoir cap? To better assist, could you share: Current mileage on your RS5, When did this issue first appear? Any recent maintenance or fluid refills? Does the pump make any sound when trying to spray? These details would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if its something different in the system.

Thanks for the detailed input. Forgot to mention my RS5 has 37739 KM and just had its annual service last month. The washer motor is completely silent when activated, unlike before when you could hear it running. Previously checked the spray jets and cleaned them, but no improvement. The warning light stays on regardless of the fluid level in the reservoir. After your experience, I will definitely check for debris in the reservoir as that could explain both the motor silence and warning light issues. The system worked fine before the service, which makes me wonder if something got disturbed during maintenance. Going to remove and clean the reservoir first before considering sensor replacement. Will update once I check these points.

Thanks for the additional details. Given your RS5 stopped working right after the service and the washer motor is completely silent, this sounds different from my S5 case. The lack of motor sound points to either an electrical issue or a failed washer motor. Since the timing coincides with the service, check if any electrical connections near the washer motor got disconnected during maintenance work. On my S5, when the washer motor eventually failed last year at around 45000 KM, it also went completely silent. The windshield cleaning system showed similar symptoms, no sound, no spray, persistent warning light on the dashboard. Quick things to verify: Check the fuse for the washer motor, Inspect electrical connections at the motor, Look for any pinched wires near the washer fluid reservoir The washer motor replacement on my S5 cost 180 Euro including labor. But first try the electrical checks, as loose connections are common after service work. Let us know what you find. If the reservoir cleaning doesnt solve it, the silent motor strongly suggests an electrical or motor issue rather than just a sensor problem like I had initially.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Just wanted to follow up on my RS5 washer fluid situation. After checking the electrical connections, found a disconnected wire near the washer motor that must have come loose during the service. Reconnected it properly and the system works perfectly now. The warning light is gone and the motor sound is back to normal. No need for any parts or costly repairs. The spray jets are working great and the fluid level sensor is reading correctly. Definitely worth checking those connections first before replacing components. Appreciate the advice about checking both the electrical and mechanical aspects of the windshield washer system. Saved me from unnecessary repairs and helped identify the actual issue quickly. Will make sure to mention this to my service center so they can be more careful with the connections during future maintenance.
