RS5 Washer Systems Dead Despite Full Fluid Tank

My Audi RS5 has issues with both windshield washer and headlight cleaning system not functioning. The washer fluid reservoir is full but nothing happens when pressing the stalk. Car runs great otherwise. Could this be a hose malfunction or something more serious? Running a 2014 RS5 4.2L with 182094 KM. Anyone experienced similar issues with these systems? Want to avoid getting overcharged at the shop after my last experience.

Had the same problem on my 2011 Audi S5 with the 3.0T engine. Both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning systems failed simultaneously, pointing to a common cause rather than separate issues. The problem turned out to be a faulty washer pump relay and corroded electrical connections at the pump itself. These components control both the windshield washer and the Xenon headlight cleaning system. While a clogged hose can cause similar symptoms, having both systems fail at once typically indicates an electrical issue. The repair required: Testing the pump relay, Replacing corroded wiring connectors, Installing a new washer pump, Cleaning the entire system to prevent future clogs This was a moderate repair that required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly test the electrical systems. The job took about 3 hours at the shop. While not the most serious issue, leaving it unfixed can lead to poor visibility and headlight performance, especially in areas where road grime builds up on Xenon headlights. Worth checking the fuse first, as its the simplest potential fix, but based on the symptoms described, its likely the pump assembly or electrical connection.

Thanks for the detailed explanation of the washer system repair. This matches what I experienced with my RS5 last winter when both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning system stopped working. The electrical malfunction turned out to be the main culprit, but I also discovered a small leak in one of the washer fluid lines. Question, do you recall roughly how much you paid for the repair? My LED headlight cleaning system has been working fine since the fix, but wondering if I overpaid compared to others. Also, have you experienced any similar issues since getting it repaired?

The repair bill was 165 Euro to fix the faulty electrical connection at the washer pump relay. This solved both the windshield washer and Xenon headlight cleaning system fault. Since getting it repaired last year, all systems have worked flawlessly without any recurring problems. The price seems reasonable considering the diagnostic work needed to pinpoint the electrical fault and verify the pump function. Sometimes these issues can be misdiagnosed as clogged hoses or a bad pump, leading to unnecessary parts replacement. A proper diagnosis focused on the electrical connections saved money in the long run. The headlight cleaning system is especially important for maintaining proper illumination from the Xenon lights. Having it working correctly helps prevent buildup that can reduce visibility. Good to hear your LED system is also functioning well after the repair.

Finally got back from the shop today after getting the full repair done. Ended up paying 220 Euro total, more than you did but they found an additional issue with the washer fluid reservoir seal that needed replacement. The mechanic showed me the corroded electrical connections that were causing the malfunction in both systems. Shop did a thorough job testing everything. The Xenon headlight cleaning system now works perfectly, and they even cleaned all the nozzles while they were at it. Turns out the previous owner never properly maintained these systems, which led to the corrosion build-up. Really glad I got this fixed before winter. The cost was worth it for the peace of mind, especially since I do a lot of night driving. No more issues with the washer systems or headlight cleaning function. Thanks again for helping me avoid getting overcharged for unnecessary repairs.
