RS6 Air Suspension Failure Causing Uneven Ride Height

Looking for help with height control issues on my 2018 RS6 (47860km). The automotive suspension seems out of whack, front sits noticeably lower than rear, making the headlights aim incorrectly. Getting warning lights and the ride height feels completely off. Air suspension warning keeps popping up and the ride is really harsh lately. Last mechanic visit was a disaster so I am hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar suspension issues with their RS6? What was the fix and how much did it cost? Really need some advice on whether this needs immediate attention or if it can wait.

Had similar suspension issues on a 2015 S6. The symptoms match what you describe, uneven ride height and persistent warning lights. This points to a failing control module or defective leveling sensor in the automotive suspension system. In my case, diagnostic testing revealed the front left leveling sensor had corroded, causing incorrect height readings. The suspension control module was receiving faulty signals, making the system compensate incorrectly. This explained the misaligned ride height and harsh ride quality. This requires immediate attention. The faulty readings can cause the system to maintain improper ride height, leading to uneven tire wear and potential damage to other suspension components. The headlight misalignment is also a safety concern. The repair involved replacing both front leveling sensors and recalibrating the control module. The fix restored proper functionality, no more warning lights and the ride height returned to normal. Parts availability was quick and the repair process took about 4 hours. Based on your description, recommend having a specialized Audi shop diagnose the exact issue. These suspension issues typically worsen over time and can lead to more expensive repairs if left unaddressed.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the S6 suspension fix! Glad to hear you got it sorted. My air suspension repair is scheduled for next week and your explanation about the leveling sensors really helps understand what might be going on with my RS6. Considering how similar our issues sound, would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was? Also curious if youve had any related suspension problems since the fix? Want to make sure I budget properly and know what to watch for after the repair.

The total repair cost turned out quite reasonable at 110 Euro for replacing the control rod on the faulty height sensor. Since getting the height control restricted warning fixed at my mechanic, the air suspension has worked flawlessly for the past months. The suspension issue was exactly what the diagnostic suggested, a defective height sensor sending incorrect signals to the control module. Once replaced, the suspension leveling returned to normal and all warning lights cleared up immediately. The harsh ride quality improved dramatically after the repair. No related problems have surfaced since the fix. The air suspension maintains proper height adjustment regardless of driving conditions now. Would definitely recommend getting it repaired sooner rather than later to prevent any additional wear on suspension components. Keeping an eye on the height sensors is good practice for preventive maintenance on these models. Early detection of suspension issues can help avoid more extensive repairs down the line.

Just had my RS6 serviced last week after getting great advice here about the suspension issues. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed a faulty leveling sensor causing the height control problems. Total repair came to 850 Euro which included replacing both front leveling sensors and recalibrating the air suspension system. The whole repair process took about 5 hours. They showed me the corroded sensor that was causing all the trouble. Really glad I got it fixed, the car sits perfectly level now and those annoying warning lights are finally gone. The headlights are properly aligned and the harsh ride has completely disappeared. My experience at the new specialized shop was much better than the previous mechanic. They clearly knew what they were doing with the automotive suspension system and took time to explain everything. Would definitely recommend getting these leveling system issues checked out right away rather than waiting. The peace of mind alone is worth it.
