My RS6 has 58877 KM on the odometer and just had the control module replaced under warranty. The dealer found that moisture had entered the adaptive headlights control unit, causing intermittent failures. After the replacement, they performed a complete recalibration of the lighting system. The repair took about 3 hours but cost nothing since it was covered. The headlight switch and leveling now work perfectly again. Seems this is a known issue that has affected several other RS6 owners.

Thanks for sharing your warranty repair experience. On my RS4, moisture damage was also a contributing factor to the headlight malfunction, though it affected the servomotor rather than the control module. Good you caught it early, moisture issues tend to get worse over time and can spread to other components of the auto-leveling system. Since your repair was successful, just monitor these key points going forward: Check the beam adjustment regularly during wet conditions, Watch for any flickering in light intensity, Pay attention to unusual delays in the adaptive system response, Keep an eye on the headlight warning indicators At around 60000 KM, its worth having the entire lighting system inspected as preventative maintenance. My RS4 needed seal replacements around that mileage to prevent future moisture problems. Glad the repair was covered under warranty. The control module replacement alone typically costs 800-1200 Euro before labor, so warranty coverage saved you significantly.

Getting the final update on my headlight issues, turned out my RS6 had a faulty control module at 58877 KM. The electrical connectors had moisture damage which was causing the erratic beam adjustment behavior. The dealer completely replaced the control module under warranty and did a full recalibration of the lighting system. Repair took around 3 hours but didnt cost me anything since it was warranty work. After the fix, the range control and auto-leveling features are working perfectly again. From what the tech told me, several other RS6s have had similar issues with moisture affecting the headlight control modules. Pretty relieved it was covered and glad to have the problem sorted before it got worse.

I had a similar issue with my 2020 RS4 last winter. Have moderate experience working with modern lighting systems, though I usually leave complex electrical issues to professionals. The symptoms matched exactly what you describe, inconsistent beam adjustment and warning lights. The adaptive headlights would sometimes point way too high, creating dangerous situations for oncoming traffic. The auto-leveling system completely failed after a few weeks. After diagnosis, the workshop found a defective servomotor in one headlight assembly that controls the light intensity and vertical movement. The headlight switch and sensors were fine, but the servomotor had failed, preventing proper beam adjustment. The repair involved: Complete diagnosis of the adaptive headlight system, Replacement of the faulty servomotor, Recalibration of the headlight leveling system, Testing all automatic adjustment functions Total cost was 1040 Euro including parts and labor. The repair took about 4 hours. To help further, could you share: Which side (left/right) shows the malfunction? Does the issue occur more during cold starts? What specific error codes are you getting? Have you noticed any unusual noises during headlight adjustment? This would help determine if you are facing the same root cause.
