Thanks for sharing your experience. I had the same ignition problem with my 2018 RS7 last year. The safety switch and clutch pedal issues matched exactly what you described. Glad to hear replacing the sensor fixed it for you. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was? Also curious if youve had any other electrical glitches since the faulty switch was replaced? Mine has been running perfectly since the fix but always good to know what to watch out for.

Had a similar experience with my 2015 RS6. Since having the bad clutch pedal switch fixed last month, all issues completely cleared up. The repair was straightforward, just 95 Euro to fix a faulty cable connection on the switch component. The safety mechanism now works flawlessly and no more problems with car starting or the gear selector display. No electrical glitches at all since the repair. The original symptoms, cruise control issues and display problems, were definitely caused by that one faulty connection. My mechanic mentioned these switches are a known weak point, but once properly repaired they tend to stay reliable. The key is getting an accurate diagnosis rather than replacing parts unnecessarily. A specialized shop can quickly identify if the clutch pedal switch is the culprit causing starting issues. The cheap fix was a relief since I initially worried it might be a more serious transmission problem. Regular maintenance since then has shown all systems working normally.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Finally got my RS7 fixed last week and wanted to share my experience. Took it to a different specialist shop that actually knew what they were doing this time. The electrical fault turned out to be exactly what was suggested, a faulty switch at the clutch pedal assembly. Total repair came to 180 Euro including diagnostic time. The gear selector display and cruise control started working immediately after they replaced the defective parts. The mechanic showed me the worn connection points on the old switch. They also cleaned up some corrosion in the surrounding wiring while they were in there. The whole job took about 2 hours. Car has been running perfectly for the past week. No more issues with starting or any electrical glitches. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of replacing expensive parts unnecessarily like the first shop suggested. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Will definitely keep an eye on the clutch switch assembly during future maintenance.

The symptoms you describe with your 2018 RS7 match what I experienced with my 2015 RS6. The clutch switch failure often causes car stalling and starting issues, also affecting multiple electronic systems like your gear display and cruise control. My car presented identical problems, gear selector display went dark and cruise control became non-functional. The faulty switch was causing intermittent communication issues with the transmission control module. After replacing the clutch pedal position sensor and checking all related wiring connections, the problems were completely resolved. The good news is this is not a major mechanical issue, though it requires proper diagnostic equipment to confirm. The clutch position sensor is a common failure point on these models due to frequent engagement cycles. When it fails, it can trigger multiple seemingly unrelated electrical issues. The repair involves: Testing the clutch pedal sensor circuit, Inspecting wiring harness connections, Potentially replacing the sensor assembly, Recalibrating the new sensor Recommend having this checked by a shop specializing in Audi electronics, as general mechanics often misdiagnose these symptoms as separate issues. The car starting and ignition problems will likely worsen if left unaddressed.
