RX Anti-Theft Alarm Issue

I've got a 2002 Lexus RX with a gasoline engine, and lately, the anti-theft alarm has been acting possessed. The mileage is at 24822 km. It throws an error code, and the alarm itself is totally unresponsive. Could it be a simple battery issue, or are we talking about a deeper dive into the alarm system's sensors? Anyone else run into this?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I've got an RX as well, and I had some crazy alarm behavior a while back. Was it possibly coded to activate the optical locking (indicators)? That's what caused mine to go haywire!

Optical locking? Hmm, now that you mention it, I might have tinkered with that setting a while ago. So, are you saying that the indicators themselves being part of the alarm sequence could cause the whole system to fail? How did you fix that?

Yup, that's exactly it! The indicators being linked seemed to overload something. I fiddled with it myself for a while, but honestly, just bit the bullet and went to a shop. Best 45€ I've spent. Seriously, don't waste your time like I did; just get it checked.

Thanks a ton! I'll book an appointment with my mechanic ASAP, and mention the optical locking thing. Hopefully, that’s the culprit. Really appreciate the insight!
