RX Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Lexus RX hybrid experienced a cruise control failure, with the indicator not lighting up and the system not engaging. Possible causes suggested included a faulty brake light switch or a bad throttle position sensor. However, the issue was resolved by addressing a defective cable connection in the cruise control system, as confirmed by a workshop diagnosis and repair.

Interesting! Where exactly is that cruise control component located? I am not sure what I'm looking for. Is it near the steering wheel or closer to the engine?

For me, the workshop diagnosed it to be a defective cable connection; they mentioned it could also be the plug. They replaced it, and the cruise control worked again. I paid around 95€ at the time. I would suggest taking your car to a workshop.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I took my car to the workshop, and it turned out the error was due to a defective cable connection, just like you said! I had it repaired and now it's working again. I really appreciate the help!

I also drive a Lexus RX. A while back, I had a similar cruise control problem. Check the cable and plug connections of the cruise control component. In my case, a loose connection was the problem.
