RX engine running rough

Hello. I'm experiencing some issues with my 2012 Lexus RX hybrid. It only has 21803 km on the clock. Recently, the engine has been running rough, and the check engine light keeps popping up. When accelerating, it feels like the car is jerking, and there's a noticeable reduction in engine power. I suspect cylinder misfires since that's what the error code suggests. Has anyone experienced something similar? Could it be related to spark plugs or maybe a fuel injector issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Lexus RX hybrid with low mileage is experiencing rough engine performance, a check engine light, jerking during acceleration, and reduced power. The suspected cause is cylinder misfires, potentially due to spark plugs or fuel injector issues. A similar case revealed a defective fuel injector as the problem, suggesting a professional inspection to confirm and resolve the issue.

I had a similar issue with my RX not too long ago. The symptoms you describe, the rough running and jerking acceleration, sound very familiar. I remember the throttle response was also terrible. Did you notice any changes in fuel consumption? For me, it ended up being related to the fuel injection system. I'm wondering if you have checked the fuel pump.

Thanks for your response! I haven't specifically checked the fuel consumption, but I'll pay closer attention to that. When you say it was related to the fuel injection system, was it a specific injector that was faulty, or was it something else entirely? Any more details you can share would be greatly appreciated!

In my case, it turned out to be a defective injection valve/injector. I remember that the mechanic checked each cylinder individually. Given the symptoms you are describing, I would recommend getting yours checked by a professional as well. The sooner you get it looked at, the better.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was indeed a defective fuel injector. The repair cost me around 515€. Appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction!
