RX Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Lexus RX experienced an intermittent check engine light, engine stalls at idle, and reduced power, with a diagnostic code indicating a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. The issue was likely caused by a malfunctioning sensor, though wiring and connections were initially checked for damage or corrosion. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, restoring smooth engine operation and eliminating the symptoms.

Thank you for the insight. I visually inspected the wiring and connections, but did not find anything obvious. Did you resolve the issue by simply replacing the sensor, or was further diagnosis required?

In my case, replacing the sensor resolved the problem. However, fuel injection systems are complex; one faulty component can throw everything off. Given the symptoms and diagnostic code, it's probable the sensor is at fault, but I'd still recommend a workshop to confirm proper fuel pressure and rule out other potential issues before condemning the sensor outright.

I appreciate your advice. I followed your suggestion and took the vehicle to a trusted mechanic. After confirming the diagnosis, they replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor. The repair cost 240€. The engine now runs smoothly, and all symptoms have disappeared. Thank you again for your assistance.

That sounds familiar. I've had similar symptoms with my RX. Fluctuating fuel rail pressure can cause havoc. The pressure sensor is a common culprit. Have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the sensor for damage or corrosion?
