RX Power Steering Problems

I'm at my wit's end with my 2019 Lexus RX gasoline guzzler! At 246004 km, the power steering is playing up something fierce. The steering wheel vibrates like mad, the handling feels spongy, and the computer's throwing error codes left and right. It feels like I'm wrestling a bear every time I try to turn the wheel – the power steering seems to have packed it in entirely. I suspect the steering pump may be faulty or something with the wheel alignment?

Sounds rough. I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3 a few years back. Same symptoms: vibrating wheel, vague steering. Did you check the hydraulic fluid level? And have you looked at the electric steering?

You mention your Saab had similar issues. Did you ever figure out exactly what the problem was? I'm just trying to narrow down the possibilities before I start throwing money at new parts.

Yeah, turned out to be a defective cable and plug connection. So, first I would check the steering column for any loose connections or damaged wiring. I’d recommend getting it checked out at a workshop, though. Safer that way.

Thanks for the tip! I had my mechanic take a look. You were spot on – a faulty cable connection! Cost me 95€ to repair. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!
