RX won't start immobilizer error
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Lexus RX is experiencing starting issues, with the engine sometimes cranking or starting briefly before dying, accompanied by an immobilizer error. The problem persists even when using a spare key, suggesting a potential issue with key programming. A similar past experience with another vehicle indicated that reprogramming the key resolved the issue, which was confirmed as the solution after visiting a workshop.

Yeah, there's a security light flashing on the dash. What did it end up being with your Astra?

With my Astra, it was also the immobilizer. It turned out the key needed to be reprogrammed. Best go to a workshop to get it checked out.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. The key programming was off. They fixed it for 45€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra a few years back. The engine would just cut out after a second or two. Did you see any lights on the dashboard, like a security light or something?
