S Klasse Hybrid Air Suspension Problem

I am experiencing an issue with my 2015 Mercedes S Klasse Hybrid. The vehicle seems to be leaning, and the ride quality has deteriorated, becoming bumpy. The speedometer displays a suspension error. Error memory shows a fault regarding the air suspension system. Could this be a defective air spring?

Sounds like air suspension issues. I had a similar problem with my S Klasse. The symptoms are spot on, especially the leaning. I bet you've got an air leak somewhere, most likely the bellows valve on one of your air springs. Check for any hissing sounds near each wheel, especially after the car's been sitting. A faulty bellows valve is a common culprit. You might be looking at replacing the whole air spring assembly if that's the case.

When you say 'bellows valve,' is that part of the air spring itself, or a separate component? Is there any way to confirm the air leak without specialized equipment? I am not very experienced with car repairs.

The bellows valve is integrated into the air spring unit itself. It's the valve that controls the airflow in and out of the air spring. To confirm the leak, you can try the soapy water trick. Mix dish soap with water and spray it around the air spring, especially near the valve. If there's a leak, you'll see bubbles. With those symptoms and the error codes, it's highly likely the bellows valve is shot. It's best to take it to a workshop and have them run a proper diagnostic. They can pinpoint the exact air spring and confirm the fault. It's better to be safe when it comes to the airmatic system, so you don't risk further damage.

Understood. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. The bellows valve on the front right air spring was defective, causing an air leak. The total repair cost, including replacing the air spring, came to 590€. Now the ride height is correct again!
